Act Locally, Think Globally
Extension's guiding directive — Act Locally, Think Globally — provides the organizational structure of Illinois Extension.
- Each Illinois county is served by Extension, and staff live and work in the area they serve.
- From one to six counties group together as a unit to provide coordinated services, supervision, and resources. There are 27 units in the state. A county director serves as the fiscal and staff supervisor of those units.
- Units are gathered into three regions; each is served by an assistant director and support staff for those efforts. Assistant directors provide leadership and vision for aligning resources and partners to support the development and delivery of regional and statewide educational initiatives. They manage field operations and support county directors and staff.
